TALLON Family History
This interesting surname has two possible sources; firstly, it may be of Old French origin, introduced into England after the Conquest of 1066, and is an example of the sizeable group of early European surnames that were gradually created from the habitual use of nicknames. The nicknames were given in the first instance with reference to a variety of characteristics, such as physical attributes or peculiarities, mental and moral characteristics, including supposed resemblance to an animal's or bird's appearance or disposition, or to habits of dress and occupation. The derivation is from the Olde French "talon", heel, and the nickname would have been given to a swift runner or to someone with a deformed heel...Select Audience

Tallon
My Great Great Grandfather was Edward Tallon. We believe his birth year is around 1825 and that he came to the U. S. around 1844 or '48. He died in the 1890's at Trenton, N.J. He did live at Bordentown, N.J. for a time before moving to Trenton where he made sarsaparilla with Patrick Connell. We think he continued making and selling the sarsaparilla and mineral water in Trenton. I don't think my Edward Tallon is the same fellow as Bettys's as my ggf left Ireland years before 1875. If you have any connection please let me know - I would so like to find every Tallon everywhere!! Elizabeth

Iโm from the Tallon relatives in the New Orleans, La.USA area. Iโm tracing my maternal grandmotherโs Irish roots. Her name was Helen Louise Tallon. My great grandfather, Joseph Tallon, born 4/11/1865 in Dublin area immigrated to USA in 1892 from port of Queensland. My great great grandfather was Thomas Tallon
Year born 1838 or1839. He married Anne Dardis on 6/18/1854 in Meath. I think my great great great grandfather was Richard Tallon (dob 5/8/1852).He marries Betty Sheridan. Pat Tallon couldnโt possibly be my great great great great grandfather, I donโt have any info on him.
Any relatives out there? Please correspond if any of this info is familiar! Thanks. Jody McManus
